Andrada - Our "Romanian Princess"
|
|
Andrada spent 7 months in Portland, Oregon, getting a congenital hip
displacement corrected in 1994. She was four years old then, and had a severe
limp and a dim prognosis without surgery. Thanks to the generous help of
The Shriners' Hospital and Heart
for Romania donors, Andrada has a bright future free of pain and limp. Without
our help, she would probably have been in a wheelchair as a young adult.

Andrada (left) watches over yer younger brother, Daniel
in 2000. Even though she was only 4 when she was in America, Andrada speaks
English with a perfect Portland accent! Heart for Romania paid for all of
Andrada's expenses to come to America, and all medical care for this child's
hip restoration was provided at no charge by the Shriners'
Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Andrada and her father enjoyed many special
activities at the Shriners' Hospital and Ronald McDonald House, where they
lived for 7 months. |

With the passing of years, we have stayed connected to all
the families of the children in our medical-assist program. Here Santa Dave
pays a surprise visit to Andrada's family on Christmas Eve. |

Andrada's hip restoration is 101% successful. Since her recovery, she
has had full range of motion in her hip, with no pain nor complications.
Here Andrada (in the pink shirt) is 12 year old, performing in a dance presentation
at her school Christmas program.
