Homestay Girls ... on assignment

Katie and Liz, working at a private summer camp for handicapped children. Many of these special children have been institutionalized their entire lives, and need lots of stimulation. This little boy is 4 years old.

Steph (below) works with Vlad, a child with Down's Syndrome. In Sibiu, a progressive group of Down's Syndrome Parents have joined forces to provide support for each other and recreation therapy for their children. The children are not welcome in the public schools, so the full responsibility of raising, training and educating their children rests with the parents (or the inhumane state-run instutions, if the job is too overwhelming for parents.)

Lois, the Homestay Group's travel chaperone, holds a 4-year old child who has the physical development of an 18-month old. Institutionalized his entire life, this child needs lots of touching and stimulation that nurse Lois is happy to offer.
