Helping out wherever we can...

We were made aware of a man who needed help with a new prosthesis. Many years ago, he lost his leg just above the knee. Since that time he has been wearing Romania's 'best' 9-10 pound wooden legs - the kind our experts designed a half-century ago. Thompson Orthotics and Prosthetics in Spokane secured a College Park Industries 'Tru Step' foot donation. Then Jan Thompson did all the work of designing the custom leg, using a a worn-out WWI vintage leg and a Romanian mold that was still wet when Jean brought it home with her last spring.

Pictured below is the state-of-the-art 3 pound leg and flexible 'Tru Step' foot on the first trial fitting last summer.

After a little adjustment by the professionals in Bucharest, the man's new leg fits beautifully. Romania's prosthetists do have the technology and the skills, but not the materials available. Our friend's new leg is spectacular! He had only heard that prosthetics could be comfortable! Thanks, Jan & College Park!
