Heart for Hope and Cadena de Amor start a new house project
Dr. Jose is coordinating with our builder in San Juancito to start construction on an adobe house. The family that will live in the completed project has been renting a hovel of sorts. Dr. Jose reports that they are very happy to know they will soon have a simple, but solid home that will be theirs. I will get pictures from time to time as the project progresses. the first pictures will show the ground and beginning foundation. The reports over time will show how we can build a solid house for between $3000 and $4000.
As you can see from these pictures, all the work is totally hand labor. Concrete is mixed by hand on the ground as you see next to the blue water barrel. Rocks and stones are plentiful in Honduras to add to foundation work.
It is nice after a year of no activity, to see our partner able to again start project that benefit village families and children. I will blog more about this project and also others that serve the needs of poor people and allow them the have a chance to survive, prosper, and remain in their village and in Honduras instead of taking desperate measure like trying to reach the U.S. The truth is most people would prefer to live were their family is and the country that is their home.
